Honduras Teacher's Day - September 17th

The Honduras Teacher’s Day is one of the most important days in the calendar to be celebrated by thousands of teachers across the country. In this day -17th of September – institutions all over the country are simultaneously conducting various programs recognizing the great contribution of educators for the good of all children. September 17 is a very significant event since this is also the time to commemorate a great teacher Jose Trinidad Reyes as well as it is also the foundation of the national university.

Like in other countries of the world the most noticeable activities are the student’s preparation of love cards and greeting cards to be given to their favourite teachers. The cards are to be made personalized but those who can afford to buy commercial cards in book stores are also allowed to do so. The activity is not much of expenditures for the parents so that this is the most activity conducted among thousands of institutions all over Honduras. In this way, the teacher appreciation day also become very effective as teachers would love to read greetings, encouragements, appreciation for their special contribution to society.

There are also some private universities in the country that would also conduct sports activities, tree planting, beach parties as their ways of commemorating the special education day in the country. They love to party in beaches to make teachers have a getaway from their boredom four-cornered classrooms. Some universities also made it a point to recognize their professors by way of giving them special awards and treating them to lunches, and dinners. During special parties conduced in classy hotels in town, the teachers are also prepared with the best delicacies the country can offer to visitors and dignitaries.
